My cat, Biscotti, wants in on the actionEmbarrassing? Maybe. Frustrating? Probably. Discouraging? Sometimes. If you’re one of those people who wants to do a push-up but can’t yet then read on.Let’s Get StartedI’m going to cut through all the crap and get right to it. Push-ups on your knees are pretty much a waste of time. The best way to get to it is to get down on the floor and do a plank on your hands and toes. Begin lowering yourself down to the floor in a slow controlled movement as if doing the down portion of a push-up in slow motion. Try to count to three as you lower yourself. That’s three as in three seconds. Once you reach the floor get yourself back up to a plank position (you do not have to do the “up” portion of the push-up yet). Once you’re in the plank position on your hands and toes again lower yourself one more time for a three second count. Do this is many times as you can. Make sure you stay hydrated by sipping water between each set.Almost ThereOnce you’re able to do this 10 times then increase the time to 5 seconds. When you could lower yourself 10 times at five seconds each time then you’re ready to try a push-up.This certainly isn’t the only way to get started with push-ups but we find that this is a simple way that anybody could increase their upper body strength and tone up anywhere, anytime.Let us know your success or tips and tricks that work for you.
